South Africa in Two Acts

Everything is subjective. Designed to reveal hidden literary and political realities, In Two Acts plays out in two parts. Act I: An expert delivers remarks about the country. Act II: Local writers respond to questions raised. Working with PEN chapters in South Africa, this panel will focus discussion on literature and accountability in the new South Africa. Does the literary community reflect the country’s demographics? Can literature unpack questions of corruption from a legacy of racism? How does crime fiction explore the unique challenges facing the most powerful economy on the continent?
