MLK Day of Remembrance with Faylita Hicks

It is a Magic City Poetry Festival annual tradition to host a reader who speaks truth, power, and justice into the space of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Remembrance. This year, the festival is thrilled to host poet and creator Faylita Hicks. The reading is free and open to the public.

Magic City Conversations: Rachel Eliza Griffiths and Khalisa Rae

Join Khalisa Rae, author of Ghost in a Black Girl’s Throat, and Rachel Eliza Griffiths, author of Seeing the Body, for a reading of their latest works, followed by a conversation on how identity and place inform the craft of their poetry.

All Around Alabama Inaugural Reading: Jason McCall, Kimberly Casey, and Jacqueline Trimble

Meet the first three feature poets, Jason McCall, Kimberly Casey, and Jacqueline Trimble, for the inaugural event of the All Around Alabama Reading Series, where Magic City Poetry Festival passes the reading and organizing baton all around the state of Alabama to create a map of poets that speaks to the vitality and spirit of the state.

Write to Heal Workshop with Salaam Green

Eco-poet Salaam Green will host a free virtual workshop on writing to heal in partnership with Hoover Public Library. This is open to the public.
