In this week’s Illustrated PEN, Guest Editor Rob Kirby presents an excerpt from cartoonist Elizabeth Beier’s The Big Book of Bisexual Trials and Errors.

Kirby writes: Elizabeth Beier’s The Big Book of Bisexual Trials and Errors (Northwest Press, 2017) is a wonderfully readable, highly relatable graphic novel detailing Beier’s coming-of-age as a bisexual person. In this excerpt, our heroine makes the acquaintance of a sexy stranger, who looks to be a promising paramour. Beier’s art beautifully captures the giddy, hormonal excitement of mutual attraction in full bloom.

Elizabeth Beier is an Oakland-based graphic designer, cartoonist, and storyteller. She regularly performs at Bay Area storytelling shows and is a Moth StorySLAM winner. Her comics have earned press from SF Gate and MTV News, and she is a recipient of the 2016 Prism Comics Queer Press Grant.
