2019 PEN/Hemingway Award Ceremony

Seán Hemingway, Ernest Hemingway’s grandson, will present the 2019 PEN/Hemingway Award at this ceremony. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Viet Thanh Nguyen will deliver the keynote address. The Kennedy Library is the major repository of Ernest Hemingway’s personal papers. This program is co-presented by The Kennedy Library and PEN America.

This year’s finalists for the PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel are: Akwaeke Emezi’s Freshwater; Meghan Kenny’s The Driest Season: A Novel; Ling Ma’s Severance; Tommy Orange’s There There: A Novel; and Nico Walker’s Cherry: A Novel.
