In January 2022, rapper Toomaj was given a six-month suspended sentence for “insult” and “propaganda.” He was arrested again in October and tortured. In July 2023, he was given 6 years and three months in prison. He was released on bail in November but rearrested and sentenced to another year. He was sentenced to death in April 2024. The sentence was overturned in June and he was released in December 2024. He was summoned to court again in February 2025 after releasing a new song.
