Almuraisy was arrested and forcibly disappeared in June 2018. Though he was a prominent figure on social media, his disappearance puzzled observers because he was not involved in political or human rights advocacy. He has been reportedly detained at Al-Ha’ir Prison. On April 13, 2023, it has been reported that Almuraisy was released after 5 years of arbitrary detention and deported to Yemen.
