In February 2022, blogger Ronaghi was disappeared and slapped with national security and propaganda charges. He was released from Evin prison in March. After a TV interview in September 2022, he was rearrested. He was subject to horrific abuses in detention. In November, he was released on bail and transferred to a hospital. Ronaghi continues to face pressure from authorities after his release. He was fined for “spreading lies” in March 2024 and was briefly detained in June 2024. He was summoned to report to the authorities in November 2024 but refused to turn himself in.
