Philosopher Quezada was fired from his university position in 2018 for criticizing Ortega’s regime. He was arrested in November 2023, hours after publishing a social media post critical of the government. He was transferred to Jorge Navarro Penitentiary System in December, and was charged with “incitement to hatred” in February 2024. His family believes he only admitted guilt due to his poor health condition.
