Author and journalist Pehlivan was arrested in February 2020 for “disclosing information” on intelligence agencies in his reporting. He was sentenced to 3 years and 9 months in prison in September but released. In May 2023, he was tried for “insult” and “calumny” for an interview on his book Metastiz. He turned himself into prison in August 2023 and was released in November. He is currently on trial for “insulting a public official.” He was briefly arrested in January 2025. In March 2025, he and colleagues were tried and acquitted of attempting to influence the judiciary through a broadcast.!!
