Since August 2020, Arnon Nampa has been arrested and released on bail several times for his speeches at peaceful protests. In February 2021, he was remanded for violating lèse-majesté laws, sedition, and other charges until he was conditionally released in June. Re-arrested in August 2023, Nampa has now been sentenced to a total of 18 years, 10 months, and 20 days in prison on charges stemming from various convictions between September 2023 and December 2024. There are still at least eight cases pending.
