Poet, songwriter, and literary critic Akhwan was arrested in June 2023 by Iranian security forces in Rasht for “reciting a campaign poem” on Clubhouse. Known for posting his poetry on Telegram, he also supported the 2022 protest movement. The charges against him were not disclosed but it is widely believed that it was related to his social media activities. After being detained for a brief period, Akhwan was released by the end of July 2023.
