Zein Blanks

Zein Blanks is a free expression leadership fellow, working specifically with the Writers at Risk team. She is a current second-year student at New York University, pursuing a BA in International Relations and Comparative Literature, specialising in the Middle East as well as Literary and Cultural Studies, respectively. Though widespread, her main passions are focused on matters of human rights pertaining to large-scale violations, particularly in government-civilian interactions as well as matters of discrimination and exclusion. Her past experiences very much inform those areas of interest. Zein has worked with multiple social justice and human rights-related organisations across Egypt, the United Kingdom, and the United States, such as Alfanar Venture Philanthropy, the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians, Granville Community Kitchen, and Habitat for Humanity.
