Elly Brinkley joined PEN America in February 2017. As Institutional Advancement Assistant, she plans and executes PEN’s fundraising efforts for individual and institutional donors.
Elly graduated with a joint concentration in Philosophy and Studies of Women, Gender & Sexuality from Harvard College, where her research focused on the history of sexuality and the intersection of sex and culture. After graduating, she worked at Harvard’s Office of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response. Prior to joining PEN, Elly served as Editor at a new media start-up, Public.
She remains involved in feminist advocacy work by volunteering at the New York City Anti-violence Project, serving LGBT and HIV-affected survivors of sexual, intimate partner, and bias-motivated violence; the Bellevue Rape Crisis Program; and the People’s Education Initiative, an education program at Rikers Island’s Rose M. Singer Center. She is also a certified Rape Crisis Counselor in New York and Massachusetts.
