Last week, we told you about Mohammad Ibn al-Dheeb al-Ajami, the Qatari poet whose life sentence was reduced on appeal. He still is facing 15 years in prison for his own poetry—a blatant violation of his internationally-protected right to freedom of expression.

There is one last hope of having al-Ajami’s conviction reversed. Within the next month, the Court of Cassation, Qatar’s Supreme Court, will hear his final appeal. He needs your support now.

Please take action for Mohammad Ibn al-Dheeb al-Ajami by using our easy letter-writing software to send a letter via email to Qatari authorities urging them to free him now. Just fill in your name, email, city, state, and country, and hit send. It’s that easy. Only your name and country will be visible on the email. Feel free to edit the letter in your own voice, or send it as is.

Sometimes international support from colleagues is the very thing that frees a writer from prison. We want to flood authorities’ email boxes, and let them know that PEN members and supporters all over the world stand in solidarity with their colleague. You can make a difference.
