Véronique Tadjo is a writer, academic, artist, and scholar. Born in Paris, she grew up in Abidjan, where she did most of her studies. She holds a doctorate in African American studies from the Sorbonne and was a Fulbright Scholar at Howard University. Some of her titles in English translation include The Shadow of Imana: Travels in the heart of Rwanda, Queen Pokou, and Far from My Father. Her books for young people have been translated into many languages. She has won several literary awards and is currently professor of French at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
