Tom Healy

PEN America Trustee

Tom Healy is the author of three books of poetry, VelvetAnimal Spirits and What the Right Hand Knows, a finalist for the LA Times Book Prize and the Lambda Literary Award.

Tom is the chair of the O, Miami poetry festival and serves on the boards of PEN America, The Bass Museum and The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. He is a juror for the Gotham Book Prize and a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Under President Barack Obama, Tom led the international Fulbright Scholars program. He received the New York City Mayor’s Award for Arts and Culture in 2005 for his work to rebuild New York’s downtown arts community after 9/11.
