Tiffany Hsu is a New York Times reporter who writes about the quality of information and the many threats against shared facts. In her reporting, she follows false narratives, conspiracy theories, influence campaigns, deepfake forums and other sources of misleading or inaccurate content. She also writes about the defense against such material — fact-checking, content moderation, media literacy, A.I. detection tools and regulatory intervention. She has been a journalist for more than two decades, most recently covering media before joining the disinformation team in 2022. She came to The Times in 2017 and was a business reporter for The Los Angeles Times for several years before that.
