Martina served as President of the European Students’ Union (ESU) from 2021 to 2022, having joined the organization in 2019 as its Human Rights and Solidarity Coordinator. Her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic took on significant operational changes with increasing attention to strengthening solidarity with ESU’s Belarusian and Ukranian unions.
Much of her efforts on academic freedom centered on documenting and raising awareness on student unions and students at risk. She coordinated and advocated for solidarity measures with organisations such as the Scholars at Risk Network, the Bologna Follow Up Group, Amnesty International and the European External Action Service.
Martina continues advancing student engagement and policy development on diversity and equity in education governance as a member of the Magna Charta Observatory’s Governing Council, and as a research and development associate of the Knowledge Innovation Centre.
