Amy Binder is Stavros Niarchos Foundation Professor of Sociology and currently serves as Interim Director of the SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University. She is an award-winning author of three books published by Princeton University Press and the University of Chicago Press, and numerous articles appearing in leading scholarly outlets including the American Sociological Review and The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science. She has also written for media outlets such as The Washington Post, The Washington Monthly, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. Her research has been widely reviewed in the media and academic journals. She is an elected member of the Sociological Research Association, and has been a visiting scholar at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center, the Russell Sage Foundation in New York City, and the Center for Advanced Study in the Social and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University.
