(NEW YORK)— As disinformation surges in the weeks leading to Nov. 5, PEN America on Wed., Oct. 2 will bring together top journalists and experts at the forefront of combating political disinformation to share their biggest concerns, identify serious dangers and discuss how voters can push back before polls open.

The event is taking place amid spreading falsehoods tied tohigh-profile news and political events; the discussion will also focus on social media amplification of lies and incitement to violence, how advances in generative AI are impacting disinformation, and how disinformation can lead to distrust of the media and other institutions.

Summer Lopez, chief program officer for free expression at PEN America, will introduce the session.

The panel will be moderated by Nina Jankowicz, an internationally recognized expert on disinformation and co-founder of the American Sunlight Project.
