Back for the fourth year running, the Translation Slam puts different translations of the same text side by side and invites the translators, poets, and audience members to join in a lively critical debate of how each version meets its creative challenges. Borrowed from our friends in Montréal, and fine-tuned to a New York beat, this year’s edition brings together two poets from French and Urdu, Amélie Nothomb and Fahmida Riaz, and four translators: Jolie Hale and Richard Sieburth (from French); and Waqas Khwaja and Adeeba Talukder (from Urdu).
