Fight Back Against Book Bans: Tell Nixa, MO that Maus Belongs in Schools

On June 20, the school board in Nixa, Missouri, is considering whether to restrict or remove Maus, Art Spiegelman’s graphic novel about the Holocaust, and two other books that were flagged by school officials under a new law that makes it illegal to provide minors with sexually explicit material. Any reasonable review of its content makes it plain that the story is not sexual in nature. To suggest otherwise is itself a grotesque perversion of the book’s serious subject matter.
