South Side Weekly Workshop Series: Reporting for Radio

Reporting for Radio image

PEN America is thrilled to continue our partnership with the South Side Weekly with a series of hands-on journalism skills workshops this summer and fall.

Radio is made of tape and interviews and sound. But HOW exactly do you get all that? Veteran Chicago radio reporter Linda Lutton of WBEZ will offer insider tips for getting good tape—from interviews to ambient sound. She will also go over things to consider when reporting for radio versus print.

Workshops are taught by Weekly editors or by guest professional journalists and are always free and open to the public.

She won a Peabody for her work on stories told from Harper High School on Chicago’s South Side; a Peabody nomination for a documentary told from a grammar school on the West Side; and a bunch of other awards. She loves making stories for your ears.
