PEN at 2014 Brooklyn Book Festival

Get ready, book lovers! PEN is excited to be a Programming Partner for the Ninth Annual Brooklyn Book Festival this Sunday, September 21. Over 100 PEN Members are participating in a variety of talks, readings, and special events throughout the day, and we hope to see you there.

Stop by our PEN table at Booth #410, near the Main Stage at the base of Brooklyn Borough Hall, to hear about PEN’s upcoming campaigns, pick up the latest copy of PEN America: A Journal for Writers and Readers, and speak with staff about Banned Books Week.

SPECIAL OFFER TO MEMBERS*: Swing by our PEN booth anytime on Sunday to renew your membership and you’ll receive a 20% discount on your annual dues.

And there’s more: This year PEN will host a reading at the Brooklyn Book Festival entitled “Something to Hide,” about the rising problem of surveillance and how it’s affecting creative freedom around the world. Featuring one of Granta‘s “20 Under 40” novelists, Xiaolu Guo, prominent PEN members Robie Harris, Rakesh Satyal, Justin Taylor, and Lynne Tillman, alongside debut novelists Alena Graedon, Vanessa Manko, and Adelle Waldman.

The panel will be held on Sunday, September 21, at St. Francis College Auditorium (180 Remsen Street) at 5:00 p.m.
