PEN America Virtual Authors’ Evening with Brit Bennett

Date: Thursday, October 15, 2020
Time: 7:00pm ET / 4:00pm PT
Location: Zoom
Donation to Attend: $125 per ticket

Join us for a special conversation with Brit Bennett on her second novel and instant #1 New York Times bestseller The Vanishing Half. We are thrilled to announce that Zibby Owens, host of the literary podcast Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books, will kick off the conversation with a 20-minute interview with Brit Bennett before we open the evening up to Q&A.

A riveting, emotional family story, The Vanishing Half chronicles multiple generations of characters from the Deep South to California. Bennett poignantly touches on themes of race, identity, love, and empathy while exploring the American history of passing from the 1950s to 1990s. The Vanishing Half is a world of fiction that eerily mirrors our reality as readers, and we are thrilled to have Brit Bennett in discussion with us to unpack this great work.

A $125 donation is required to attend this very special evening. This donation is considered 100 percent tax-deductible and supports PEN America’s mission to defend writers and free expression at a time of unprecedented need. Please fill out the form below to make a contribution and reserve your ticket. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.

Space will be limited to 25 guests to facilitate audience participation and discussion. Following your RSVP, you will be sent the Zoom meeting invitation. This is a private video meeting, and only guests who are on the RSVP list will be permitted to join.

Please contact Caelan Fortes at [email protected] for any additional questions or concerns.
