Join PEN American Center and the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression for readings in celebration of PEN’s Banned Books Month and the poets whose work have been banned throughout history. Hear banned and censored poems by Allen Ginsberg, Walt Whitman, Marina Tsvetaeva, Frank O’Hara, Daniil Kharms, Sappho, and many more, as read by some of today’s best contemporary poets, including Timothy Donnelly, Deborah Landau, Alex Dimitrov, Monica Ferrell, Matvei Yankelevich, Claire Donato, Aimee Herman, Phil Fried, Ana Bozicevic, and others. Beer and wine will be served, free drinks to the first 100 attendees and drink specials after that. RSVP to this event on Facebook.

Our sister organization PEN Belarus has spent years uplifting writers and supporting the freedom to write. Now, the government is trying to shut them down. Show your support and tell them they’re not alone.
