One Page at a Time: Books, Bans, and Resistance in the 21st Century

It makes perfect sense that libraries, classrooms, bars, and art centers are at the forefront of the revolution, because these institutions have always been the most essential pillars of community. These hopeful, smart, necessary books shine the spotlight on the librarians, scientists, teachers, performers, and activists (particularly from marginalized communities) who have always been leading the charge against injustice, and whose voices are just as necessary and inspiring today as they always have been—maybe even more so.

Join PEN America Los Angeles Managing Director, Allison Lee, in a special panel at the LA Times Festival of Books! This conversation will feature Amanda Jones, Debbie Levy, and George M. Johnson, as they discuss the fight against censorship and the advocacy for creative and free expression. Book signing to follow.
