Beaverdale Books Banned Books Festival

Join us on Saturday, October 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as we celebrate the Freedom to Read!

The Beaverdale Books Banned Books Festival will be a fun-filled day featuring nationally recognized authors, fascinating panel discussions, a children’s storytime hosted by Annie’s Foundation, a reading of banned poetry, vendor tables featuring merchandise and free information, plus a banned books trivia contest. And, of course, a great selection of books from Beaverdale Books!

The keynote speaker for this event is Ashley Hope Pérez, author of Out of Darkness, and there will also be a virtual authors visit from Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell, authors of And Tango Makes Three.

This event is being held by Beaverdale Books and is co-sponsored by PEN America, Annie’s Foundation, Franklin Junior High, Trudy Holman Hurd, Cultivating Compassion: The Dr. Richard Deming Foundation, Charlotte Hubbell, the Ames Writers Collective, De Moines Public Library, Raygun, Diane Glass, Diane Johnson, Alicia Claypool, The Insomniac Bookshop, Dennis Kelley, Judy Haines, and Rachael Bathke.
