Writer and journalist, Alma Guillermoprieto (Mexico), began her career as a journalist covering the revolutionary movements in Nicaragua and El Salvador in the 1970s and ’80s. She has won the MacArthur Award (1995), the 2017 Ortega y Gasset Journalism Prize, and a Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities (2018). Her latest book, ¿Será que soy feminista? (2020), considers a question that could not be more important in a society that makes invisible, mistreats, rapes, and kills women. Guillermoprieto explores Latin America with a focus on the last century’s history of exclusion and violence, and also struggle against sexism and the patriarchy.

La escritora y reportera Alma Guillermoprieto (México) comenzó su carrera periodística cubriendo los movimientos revolucionarios en Nicaragua y El Salvador en los años 70 y 80. Ha sido galardonada con los premios MacArthur 1995, Ortega y Gasset de Periodismo 2017, y Princesa de Asturias de Comunicación y Humanidades 2018. Su último libro, ¿Será que soy feminista? (2020), plantea una pregunta ineludible frente a una sociedad que invisibiliza, maltrata, viola y mata a las mujeres. Guillermoprieto explora el territorio latinoamericano a partir de la historia de exclusión y violencia, pero también de lucha frente al machismo y patriarcado, que ha acaecido a lo largo de los últimos cien años.
