Donald Hoyt

Donald Hoyt is an Army Reserve Veteran and a proud member of the Western Band of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. As mentioned in “Scars of a Soul,” he’s grateful his mind has come through 40 years in prison with it on “the sunny side.” he’s an accomplished watercolorist, youth mentor, and works as an ADA Assistant helping disabled men in the prison hospital. He’s currently writing a book and is hoping soon for a Governor’s Commutation for murdering his stepfather when he was 21 years old. This is Donald’s first ever entry to the PEN Prison Writing Awards, and his first writing award.
