Larry Kramer

Larry Kramer was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on June 25, 1935.

Kramer is a founder of Gay Men’s Health Crisis and ACT UP. His works include the Oscar-nominated screenplay for D. H. Lawrence’s Women in Love; the novel Faggots; a collection of AIDS writings, Reports from the holocaust; and The Normal Heart, named one of the 100 Greatest Plays of the Twentieth Century by Britain’s Royal National Theatre.

He received an Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. His latest book is The Tragedy of Today’s Gays. Since 1978, he has also been writing The American People: A History.
