Bahar Kurt

Bahar Kurt is a member of the band Grup Yorum, who are known for their activism and political commentary. Since the band’s inception, its critical songs have angered the government and members have faced serious threats. Kurt has faced several brief arrests over the years including on August 5, 2020 and November 23, 2021. She was detained on February 7, 2024 and released on January 31, 2025, after spending time in the hospital because her arm had been broken in prison. She was detained again in June 2025.
