Mansoor was sentenced to ten years in prison and heavily fined in 2018 after being found guilty of defamation and “spreading false information online.” He has undertaken at least two hunger strikes to protest the solitary confinement and torture he faces in prison. In early 2022, reports surfaced that authorities were denying him critical medication and had taken away his reading glasses as further punishment. In March 2025, the State Security Department of the Federal Supreme Court in the UAE rejected his final appeal.
