Salaam Green

Salaam Green, named the inaugural poet laureate of historic Birmingham, Alabama 2024-2026. The prestigious position recognizes Ms. Green’s outstanding contributions to the literary arts and her commitment to fostering a deeper appreciation for poetry within the community and Birmingham. She is the 2024 Literary Arts Awardee and her works are published in the Alabama Arts Journal, Southern Women’s Review and Black Joy Anthology. Salaam is the founder of Literary Healing Arts and is a certified Listener Poet and Artist in Residence with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Arts in Medicine program and Wallace Center for the Arts. Salaam is Racial Healer through the Kellogg Foundation. Salaam is the 2018 Southern Writer Awards Recipient for Southern Writing. She is the chapbook author of Once Upon a Magic City. Salaam to debut full length poetry collection in 2024 with Pulley Press.
