Ian Buruma will discuss his body of work and his latest book Their Promised Land: My Grandparents in Love and War, a family history of surpassing beauty and power.

Ian Buruma was educated in Holland and Japan. He has spent many years in Asia, which he has written about in God’s DustA Japanese Mirror, and Behind the Mask. He has also written Playing the GameThe Wages of Guilt, and Anglomania. Buruma is currently the editor of the New York Review of Books.

Seating at this dinner will be limited and available by making a donation to PEN America.
