Jazz: The Revolution of Beat
May 2 | Galapagos Art Space | NYC
With Jayne Cortez, Gary Giddins, Bill Zavatsky, and special guests; moderated by composer Carman Moore
Combining sounds of popular music with those of the street and the bayous, jazz changed not only music, but other art forms which borrowed its phrasing, rhythm, structure and aesthetics. Four American writers, including legendary jazz critic Gary Giddins, American poet Bill Zavatsky, and guests explore the birth and life so far of jazz and how it relates to the written word. And, of course, there will be musical accompaniment by the Diane Moser Trio.
