Zhang Wenfang

Zhang Wenfang posted poems about the Wuhan COVID-19 lockdown. She was initially detained for “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” and later sentenced to six months in prison for “knowingly spreading false information and causing serious disruption to public order.” She was released on October 6, 2020. A February 2021 article reflected on her imprisonment and the impact of her poetry during the lockdown.
