In June 2024, journalist Timur Soykan faced a lawsuit from New Zealand drug lord Duax Ngakuru. Ngakuru, claiming that Soykan’s book Baron Invasion hurt his honor and dignity, demanded 350,000 TL in damages as well as for the book to be withdrawn. The same day, an access ban and content removal decision were issued for Soykan’s report. Another trial against Soykan in a separate compensation case stemming from two articles he wrote in June 2024 began in December 2024. He was arrested in a house raid and briefly detained in April 2025 for “threat” and “blackmail.”!!
