Shirin Karimi

Shirin Karimi is a writer and translator. She has written critically of the hijab and has translated writers such as Judith Butler into Persian. In November 2025, she was arrested in a home raid early in the morning. Her books and electronic devices were seized. She was released on bail after a week. Karimi’s detention was part of a series of targeted arrests and interrogations of leftist intellectuals.
