Sepideh Gholian

Reporter and activist Gholian has been targeted by authorities since 2018. She was imprisoned in July 2020 to serve a 5-year sentence for “propaganda” and “disturbing the public mind.” She was released in March 2023 for medical reasons but was rearrested on the same day after a video was posted of her unveiled and chanting her support for protests. She was sentenced to 15 months in prison in September. She was released from prison in June 2025.
