On March 8, 2013, Brazilian journalist Rodrigo Neto de Faria was killed in Ipatinga. At the time of his death, Neto was reportedly working on a book investigating several murders that were suspected to involve police officers. While the man who carried out the murder and the individual who hired him have been imprisoned, no charges have been brought against the alleged mastermind behind the crime. The case remains unresolved.
