Poet, lawyer, and activist Navarro received anonymous death threats, one written in blood, after carrying out investigations into allegations of torture against prisoners. He reported the threats to the State of Chiapas, but no protective measures have been put in place. From 2015 to May 2022, he served as director of Frayba (Fray Bartolomé de las Casas Human Rights Center), where he led investigations into human rights violations affecting Indigenous communities in Chiapas.
