Omar Mohammadi

Omar Mohammadi, an Iranian Kurdish poet and literary writer, was arrested on June 18, 2025, during a home raid without a warrant and later released on bail in July 2025. In December 2025, he was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison, with an additional suspended sentence of 4 years, on charges related to his Kurdish language teaching activities. He is currently imprisoned, with reports of poor health and inadequate medical care, and was transferred between prison cells in February 2026 to serve his sentence.
