Songwriter Yarrahi was arrested in August 2023 for writing a song titled “Rosarito” (Your Headscarf), an anti-hijab and pro-women’s rights song. He was charged with “propaganda,” “corruption,” and “publishing content against indecency.” After almost 2 months in detention, he was released on bail. He was sentenced to 2 years and 8 months in January 2024. His sentence was modified to house arrest in February.
