Slim was a renowned writer, columnist, and documentary filmmaker. He was the co-owner of the publishing house Dar al-Jadeed. In the days leading up to his assassination, Slim published several anti-government Facebook posts. He was found dead on February 4, 2021 after being shot five times. His killing is believed to be linked to his investigation into alleged money laundering by Hezbollah.
