Activist Khaled al-Natour was arrested on February 8, 2024 after publishing a tweet criticizing a Jordanian government proposal to establish a land export bridge with Israel. The Preventive Security Department initially contacted his brother under the pretense of discussing Al-Natour’s car, but he was arrested upon arrival. Despite being initially acquitted after eight days of detention, the Attorney General appealed the court’s decision on April 24, 2024, and Al-Natour was arrested for a second time, and sentenced to a fine of JOD 5,000.
