Joakim Medin

Joakim Medin, a Swedish journalist and literary writer, is on trial in Türkiye on charges including “membership in an armed organization.” He was arrested on March 28, 2025, upon arrival at the airport for his reporting on protests, and is also facing accusations of insulting the president. He was sentenced in April 2025 and transferred to Silivri Prison, then released on May 16, 2025 and left the country. Later proceedings continued, including in absentia hearings in September 2025 and a court appearance on January 8, 2026, with the trial postponed to May.
