
In July 2018, journalist and author Rebolledo was charged with “serious insult” over his nonfiction book Chameleon: The Double Life of a Communist Agent, which explored espionage and political betrayal. He was acquitted that October. In March 2021, he co-authored another investigative book alleging that private investigator Rómulo Aitken Hellec was involved in torture, corruption, and shielding drug traffickers.
