Hasan Cemal

Hasan Cemal was first arrested and given a suspended sentence of one year and three months in jail in 2017 and for writing an article titled “Fehman Huseyin.” He was then sentenced to another 3 months and 22 days over a PKK withdrawal report in April 2018, as well as a reduced sentence of a judicial fine for an article her wrote about Kurdish people in May 2019. Most recently, in December 2021, a lawsuit was filed against Cemal for “insulting the president” in two tweets he posted in 2016 and 2020, where he faces up to eight years in prison. He was acquitted in April 2022.
