Furkan Karabay

Furkan Karabay was first arrested on December 28, 2023 for "libel" and "targeting a person assigned with fighting terrorism" after covering a corruption trial. Although he was released in January 2024, Karabay was rearrested on November 9, 2024, following various social media posts he published on the investigation into Ahmet Ozer. He was released on November 18. Karabay has also faced defamation lawsuits from Bilal Erdogan, the president’s son, and other government officials. The first hearing began on March 6, 2025. He was detained in May. He was fined for earlier tweets in July 2025.
